Escolhemos esta barraca pois queríamos mais espaço. O peso e impermeabilidade em correlação com o preço são ótimos para uma barraca deste tamanho, comparada as mesmas de sua categoria. Das outras vezes que viajamos com barracas menores, sentimos falta de mais conforto, espaço para sentarmos e local para colocarmos nossas bagagens. Neste barraca o avanço é enorme, podendo colocar inclusive nossas bicicletas dentro, outro ponto forte em ter um avanço amplo é a possibilidade de não molhar o local da barraca onde vamos dormir após uma chuva forte por exemplo, podemos tirar nossas roupas molhadas e nos secarmos no avanço, evitando arruinar uma noite de sono dormindo em uma barraca molhada. A possibilidade de cozinhar e comer tranquilamente no avanço durante chuvas e neve é ótimo também. Sua cor ajuda na camuflagem e possui ótimo sistema de ventilação. [We chose this tent because we wanted more space. The weight and impermeability in correlation with the price are great for a tent of this size, compared with others in its class. At other times we used to travel with smaller tents, we lack more comfort, space to sit and place to put our luggage. This tent has a huge front part and we can put even our bikes inside, another good point in having a broad front tent advance is the ability to not soak up the tent site where we will sleep after a heavy rain for example, we can take our wet clothes out and dry ourselves in the front tent advance, avoiding ruin a night’s sleep in a wet tent. The possibility to cook and eat under the covered front part of this tent during a pouring rain or snow is great also. Its color helps in camouflage and it has a great ventilation system].

Substituímos a nossa antiga barraca por este modelo um pouco menor para facilitar a colocação em locais de camping selvagem e diminuir o peso.Ela tem uma quarto de tamanho suficiente para nós dois, mas sentimos falta da varanda enorme que havia no modelo para 4 pessoas. Nesta, o vestíbulo é bem menor, mas já nos adaptamos. O quarto pode ser colapsado e o espaço interno fica bem maior quando há necessidade de cozinhar dentro da barraca por exemplo. Um outro ponto positivo é que esta barraca é melhor que o modelo maior para climas frios, ficando bem mais confortável para dormir em climas frios. [We replaced our old tent with this slightly smaller model to facilitate placement in wild camping sites and reduce weight. It has a room of sufficient size for both of us, but we missed the huge vestibule that was in the model for 4 people. In this one, the vestibule is much smaller, but we have already adapted. The room can be collapsed and the internal space gets much larger when there is a need to cook inside the tent, for example. Another positive point is that this tent is better than the larger model for cold climates, being much more comfortable for sleeping in cold climates.].

Começamos levando este isolante dobravel de EVA com a intenção de proteger o isolante inflável que usamos sobre ele, além de obtermos um maior isolamente térmico e caso o isolante inflável estrague, ele é mais resistente as entempéries dos caminhos. Depois de cerca de 6 meses na estrada, os nossos infláveis furaram muito e acabamos seguindo apenas com este. [We started taking this foldable EVA insulator with the intention of protecting the inflatable insulator that we used on it, in addition to obtaining greater thermal insulation and in case the inflatable insulator breaks, it is more resistant. After about 6 months on the road, our inflatables punctured a lot and we ended up just taking this one.]

Na França substituímos nossos antigos isolantes dobráveis, já muito desgastados e compactados por este, que levamos até a Malasia. Depois de mais de 2 anos dormindo somente com estes isolantes, que são muito resistentes, porém sem nenhum conforto e pouco isolamento para climas muito frios, acabamos voltando para os infláveis. [In France, we replaced our old folding insulators, already very worn and compacted, by this one, which we used until Malaysia. After more than 2 years sleeping only with these kind of insulators, which are very resistant, but without any comfort and little insulation for very cold climates, we ended up going back to the inflatables.]

Em relação com seu maior concorrente da marca Therm-a-rest, apresenta um custo benefício ótimo, é mais pesado, porém apresenta um bom tamanho, conforto e capacidade de isolamento. Dormimos tranquilamente com ele. Mas não somos muito cuidadosos e acampamos selvagem muita vezes em lugares com espinhos e com o passar do tempo eles foram furando. Em menos de 6 meses de viagem já havíamos deixado de levá-los e dormíamos apenas com os dobráveis de EVA. [In relation to its biggest competitor, the Therm-a-rest brand, it presents an excellent cost benefit, it is heavier, but it presents a good size, comfort and isolation capacity. We slept peacefully with him. But we are not very careful and we camped wild often in places with thorns and over time they had lots of punctures. Depois de 2 anos dormindo de maneira desconfortável, decidimos dar uma segunda chance para os isolantes infláveis, desta vez tomando mais cuidados para eles não furarem. Compramos no Vietnã dois destes. São mais compactos que os auto-infláveis, mas apresentam isolamento mais baixo, porém melhor que os de EVA. Foi muito bom voltar a dormir de maneira mais confortável. O da Flávia continua funcionando muito bem até o momento em que estou atualizando esta página (Abril de 2020), o meu veio de fábrica com problemas estruturais, provavelmente, e depois de alguns meses de uso, começou a apresentar múltiplos vazamentos nas soldas plásticas quando estávamos na Nova Zelândia e acabei comprando outro inflável, não quis abrir mão do conforto. [After 2 years sleeping in an uncomfortable way, we decided to give a second chance to the inflatable insulators, this time taking more care so they don’t puncture. We bought two of these in Vietnam. They are more compact than the self-inflating ones, but have lower insulation, but better than EVA. It was great to go back to sleep more comfortably. Flávia’s continues to work very well until I’m updating this page (April 2020), mine came from the factory with structural problems, probably, and after a few months of use, it started showing multiple leaks in plastic welds when we were in New Zealand and I ended up buying another inflatable, I didn’t want to give up comfort that time.]

O mais pesado de todos os isolantes infláveis que já tive, mas sem dúvidas o mais confortável de todos. 6,5 cm de espessura quando inflado, é muito confortável e um verdadeiro alívio para os que dormem de lado. Ele leva mais tempo para encher, mas há a possibilidade de usar uma válvula com as mãos ou o pé para isso. É feito em um material rip-stop que previne rasgos. Comprei na Nova Zelândia, depois que o Naturehike começou a apresentar problemas [The heaviest of all the inflatable insulators I’ve ever had, but without a doubt the most comfortable of all. 6.5 cm thick when inflated, it is very comfortable and a real relief for side sleepers. Um pouco grande como todos os sacos de dormir para baixas temperaturas, e mais volumoso que os de plumas, porém de boa  qualidade e suporte a temperaturas extremas de até -20C, segundo o fabricante. Em temperaturas amenas podemos dormir fora dele ou somente com ele por cima como coberta. Porém, depois de mais de 2 anos de uso intenso, assim como a maioria dos sintéticos, ele foi ficando compactado e perdendo suas qualidades, em temperaturas pouco negativas já começamos a sentir frio com eles e trocamos por um de plumas quando chegamos na Nova Zelândia. [A little big like all sleeping bags for low temperatures, and more bulky than the dawn ones, but of good quality and withstand extreme temperatures down to -20C, according to the manufacturer. In mild temperatures we could sleep outside or just with it on top as a cover. However, after more than 2 years of intense use, as well as most synthetics, it was getting compacted and losing its qualities, on freezing temperatures we started to feel cold with them and we changed for a dawn ones when we were in New Zealand .].

Muito mais compacto e eficiente que nosso antigo modelo sintético anterior, já bem usado. Valeu a pena o investimento, voltamos a ter boas noites de sono em climas muito frios. Adquirimos quando estávamos na Nova Zelândia e pegamos temperaturas negativas com ele, dormindo confortavelmente. [Much more compact and efficient than our old, previously used synthetic model. It was worth the investment, we got back to having good nights sleep in very cold climates. We got it when we were in New Zealand and had freezing temperatures with it, sleeping comfortably].

Utilizamos liners para saco de dormir. Assim podemos dormir somente com eles em locais quentes ou utiliza-los junto aos sacos de dormir, com a vantagem de manter o saco de dormir limpo, uma vez que lavar e secar um liner é muito mais fácil e rápido do que um saco de dormir. We use sleeping bag mummy liners.  Levamos conosco uma rede de camping leve e resistente da marca Quechua. Não temos o costume de passar a noite na rede, mas para aquele cochilo na hora do almoço e mesmo em alguns momentos durante o camping, é ótima. [We take with us a light and sturdy Quechua camping net. We do not have the habit of spending the night in the hammock, but for that nap at lunchtime and even a few moments during the camping, it’s great.]

Fogareiro a Combustível (Fuel Stove) – BRS 12A (SINCE 2017)

Costumávamos usar um fogareiro a gás, porém a dificuldade de conseguir cartuchos de gás associados ao descarte do cartucho vazio posteriormente nos levou a procura deste fogareiro mais barulhento e “sujão”, porém muito mais versátil.  Este pequeno fogareiro não ganha dos famosos e consagrados MSR, porém apresenta bons reviews também, preço tentado e cumpre sua função.[We used a gas stove, but the difficulty of getting gas cartridges associated with the disposal of empty cartridge later led us to search for this noisier and “dirtier”, but much more versatile stove. This small stove does not beat the famous and renowned MSR, but has good reviews too, good price and fulfills its function.]

Pederneira / Flint (SINCE 2017)

• Funciona em ambientes molhados/ Works well even under wet conditions

Para nós é o método mais infalível de fazer fogo em viagens longas. Já tivemos muitos problemas em iniciar fogo usando isqueiros e principalmente fósforos em ambientes úmidos ou molhados. Além de durar bastante tempo, aínda é difícil de quebrar. Se usada corretamente faz boas faíscas. Sempre utilizamos uma pederneira para “dar partida” no nosso fogareiro. [For us it is the most infallible method of making fire on long journeys. We have already had many problems in starting fire using lighters and especially matches in wet or rainy environments. You can use it thousands of time and it’s hard to break. If used correctly it makes good sparks. We always use a fire flint to start on our stove.]

Não encontramos no mercado nenhuma concorrente com as mesma qualidade, características e vantagens. Leve, compacta e versátil, a despeito do preço elevado, vale a pena pela qualidade, principalmente da panela. Antes, utilizávamos kits de cozinha de camping mais tradicionais e baratos, porém de qualidade muito inferior, espaçosos e com menor capacidade. Mas como muitas coisas em uma longa viagem de bicicleta, depois de mais de 2 anos de uso contínuo, o silicone começou a rasgar próximo ao fundo de metal. Estávamos no interior da Turquia e desde então substituímos por panelas convencionais. [We did not find any concurrent in the market with the same quality, features and advantages. Lightweight, compact and versatile, despite the high price, it’s worth it for the quality, especially the pan. Before, we used regular and cheaper camping kitchen sets, but of much lower quality, more spacious and with less capacity. But like many things on a long bike trip, after more than 2 years of continuous use, the silicone started to tear near the metal bottom. We were in the countryside of Turkey and have since replaced it with conventional pans]

 Toalhas compactas (Pocket towels) (SINCE 2017)

• Leves e de rápida secagem.

Compactas quando dobradas, leves e de fácil secagem são a opção de escolha. Não são tão eficientes para enxugar quanto as toalhas tradicionais, mas são boas toalhas.[Compact when folded, light and easy to dry, they are our choice. Nossos alforjes são impermeáveis, parte da bagagem carregamos sobre os bagageiros, como nossos sacos de dormir por exemplo, então usamos nossos sacos estanques. Com o passar dos anos vários já rasgaram ou furaram e fomos substituindo. [Our panniers are waterproof, but part of our luggage we carry on the rear rack, like our sleeping bags for example, so we use these dry sacks. Nossos alforjes (2 pares) são da marca canadense Arkel. São muito resistentes e se fixam bem ao bagageiro. Possuem um ziper externo para bolso de acesso rápido e dentro possue uma espécie de bolsa organizadora para documentos e tablets .[Our rear panniers are from Arkel brand, Canada. They are very resistant and attach well to the rack. There is a exteriorized zipped pocket and an internal organizer for documents and tablets.
