Bagageiros são os grandes aliados dos viajantes de bicicleta e quanto mais resistência possuem, menos dor de cabeça eles dão, isso inclue o material do qual são feitos também. Racks are the great allies of bicycle travelers and the more endurance they possess, the less headache they give, this includes the material from which they are made as well.

Nosso babageiro dianteiro é da renomada marca Blackburn, que faz execelentes peças. Este no caso é de aluminio 6061 e fica bem firme após montado. Sua capacidade de carga é de até 20,5 kg e pode ser instalado em diversos tipos de garfos sem dificuldades maiores. Our front rack is from the Blackburn brand, which makes excellent parts. This one in the case is of aluminum 6061 and becomes very sturdy after mounted. Its load capacity is up to 20.5 kg and can be installed on various types of forks without major difficulties.

Não encontramos um bagageiro dianteiro tão versátil e bonito em aço chromo-ly no Brasil, então acabamos optando por este de aluminio, mesmo sabendo das dificuldades em achar pessoas que façam soldas neste tipo de metal no caso de rupturas. We did not find such a versatile and beautiful front rack in chromo-ly steel at Brazil, so we ended up opting for this aluminum, even knowing of the difficulties in finding people who do welds in this type of metal in case of ruptures.

Pedalamos cerca de 3500 km até termos o primeiro problema com este bagageiro, em todos os tipos de terreno imagináveis e levando mais do que a capacidade máxima orientada pelo fabricante (levamos 30 kg no total neste bagageiro).  Na verdade não foi um grande problema, estávamos na cidade de Montevideo quando percebi que uma parte de baixo de um dos lados do bagageiro havia rompido. Me lembrei que meses atrás após uma queda o bagageiro havia amassado nesta parte e eu desamassei posteriormente, o que pode ter causado este ponto de stress, que com as vibrações se rompeu ao longo do tempo. A ruptura ocorreu em um ponto do bagageiro que não sustenta o peso das bagagens e não faz seu acoplamento ao garfo, portanto não interferindo muito na funcionalidade do produto, mas caso eu achasse alguém que resolvesse o problema seria melhor, mantendo o bagageiro sempre em bom estado. We cycled about 3500 km until we got the first problem with this rack, in all types of terrain imaginable and taking more than the maximum capacity driven by the manufacturer (we carry 30 kg total on it). Actually it was not a big problem, we were in the city of Montevideo when I realized that a lower part of one side of the rack was broken. I remembered that months ago after a fall the rack had crumpled in this part and I later put it on the right place again, which may have caused this point of stress, which with the vibrations has broken over time. The crack occurred at a point that does not support the weight of the panniers, neither makes its coupling to the fork, therefore not interfering much in the functionality of the product, but if I found someone who could solve the problem would be better, keeping the rack always in a good shape.

Mesmo em Montevideo não foi fácil encontrar alguém que soldasse alumínio, mas durante minha ida a bicicletaria Colón, eu fui orientado a procurar o Fernando, exímio soldador e ciclista. Even in Montevideo it was not easy to find someone who weld aluminum, but during my visit to Colón bike shop, I was directed to look for Fernando, a great welder and cyclist.

Entrei em contato com o mesmo, que prontamente nos atendeu e veio buscar o bagageiro para fazer o reparo.  No outro dia recebi o bagageiro em perfeito estado, com o ponto de ruptura já reparado e agradeci muito o Fernando pelo excelente trabalho. Ele contou que é atleta de ciclismo e adora cicloturismo. I got in touch with him, who promptly came to pick up the rack to do the repair. The other day I received it back in perfect condition, with the break point already repaired and thanked Fernando very much for his excellent work. He said he is a cycling athlete and loves cycle touring.

Atualmente seguimos nossa viagem com nosso bagageiro dianteiro firme e forte graças ao trabalho deste gentil uruguaio.
